Can You See the Golden Gate Bridge from SFO Airport?
No — too far south at 13 miles. SFO Airport is 13 miles north-northwest of the Golden Gate Bridge.
The View from SFO Airport
San Francisco International Airport (SFO) is approximately 13 miles south of the Golden Gate Bridge. The bridge is not visible from the airport terminals, gates, or runways due to the distance and the hills of San Francisco blocking the line of sight. However, if you're flying into or out of SFO, you may catch aerial views of the bridge from the plane — flights approaching from the north or departing northward sometimes fly directly over or near the bridge, especially when using runways 28L/28R.
Best Viewing Spot
Your best chance of seeing the bridge from SFO is from the air. When landing from the north, look out the left side of the aircraft. When departing northbound, look left after takeoff. Window seats on the west side of the plane give the best chance. On clear days, the bridge is visible from about 5,000 feet altitude.
Photography Tips
For aerial photos of the bridge during takeoff or landing, use your phone camera pressed against the window to reduce glare. Shoot in burst mode since the plane moves quickly. Choose a window seat on the left side for northbound flights.

SFO is in San Mateo County, which has its own distinct microclimate. It's common for SFO to be clear while the Golden Gate Bridge is completely fogged in, and vice versa. Don't assume bridge conditions based on airport weather.
