Treasure Island

Panoramic Bay + Bridge + City View

Yes — Treasure Island offers a unique panoramic view showing both the Golden Gate Bridge and Bay Bridge with the San Francisco skyline between them. The Golden Gate is about 6 miles away, so a telephoto lens helps. Best at sunset and night when both bridges and the city are illuminated.

About Treasure Island

Treasure Island is a man-made island in the middle of San Francisco Bay, connected to Yerba Buena Island via a short road off the Bay Bridge. From its northwestern shore, you get a wide panoramic view that includes both the Golden Gate Bridge (to the northwest) and the San Francisco skyline (to the west) in a single scene. The island is undergoing major redevelopment but the waterfront viewpoints remain accessible.

Why Visit Treasure Island

Treasure Island is one of the few places where you can see both the Golden Gate Bridge and the Bay Bridge in the same panorama, with the full San Francisco skyline between them. It's a lesser-known viewpoint that avoids the crowds at more famous spots. The sunset and night views of the illuminated city and bridges are exceptional. The annual Treasure Island Flea Market (first weekend of each month) adds an extra draw.

Photography Tips

Bring a wide-angle lens for the full panorama (city + both bridges). Telephoto (200mm+) for isolating the Golden Gate Bridge, which is about 6 miles away. Night photography is the main draw — tripod essential, long exposures capture the city lights reflected in the bay. The northwest shore near the old officers' housing has the best angles.

Fog & Visibility

Treasure Island is in the bay and can be foggy. However, it's far enough from the Golden Gate that the marine layer sometimes doesn't reach here. You might see the Golden Gate Bridge partially shrouded in fog while Treasure Island remains clear — an interesting perspective on how fog moves through the strait.
